Patch Day for Microsoft Exchange hotfix released for versions 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2010.

P2V Exchange Server 2003/2007

exchange-logo Even in Italian companies is well established the concept of Server Virtualization and Consolidation of Farm and increasingly we have to convert physical machines into virtual servers through the procedures of physical to virtual.

I got to talking to VMware Virtual Infrastructure, try the new vConverter 4.0. This product (in its standalone Free Hot Conversion after registration downloadable here ), in the full version allows you to make conversions to COLD (Conversion) and conversions (hot Conversion).

In my case I thought it appropriate to make a Cold Conversion as the Exchange database resides on a LUN in the SAN and mostly did not want to run the risk of having an inconsistent DB after work.

Precisely for this reason in cases of critical services so it is recommended the conversion to cold, although the type of activity requires a down service for the duration of data transfer, you have the full security of having a virtual machine in exactly the same state where we left it.
