Eccoci ormai al consueto appuntamento mensile con il rilascio dei drivers Catalyst di ATI/Amd: la nuova versione disponibile è la 10.3.

Compatibile con sistema operativo Linux a 32 e 64 bit, la nuova versione dei drivers ATI Catalyst™ aggiunge il supporto a nuove distribuzioni e risolve numerosi bug della versione precedente (la 10.2 non funzionava correttamente con Radeon serie HD3X00).

Leggendo le note di rilascio troviamo il supporto a  Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5.

I requisiti per l’installazione del pacchetto sono:

• XOrg 6.8, 6.9, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 or 7.4
• Linux kernel 2.6 o superiore
• glibc versione 2.2 o 2.3
• POSIX Shared Memory (/dev/shm) per utilizzare applicazioni 3D

Per eseguire l’installazione oppure l’upgrade di versione occorre scaricare il driver da questo link e lanciare il seguente comando da una finestra terminale:

sudo sh ati-driver-installer-10-3-x86.x86_64.run

e seguire tutti i passaggi riportati

• TV horizontal size change will now be applied when utilizing XRandR to change TV geometry
• Catalyst Control Center will now recognize hotplugged external display without restarting X
• Running fullscreen OGL applications no longer causes X to switch from Dual-Head mode to Clone mode with game launching on both primary and secondary displays
