VMware ha reso disponibile le nuove release dei prodotti per la virtualizzazione in ambiente Desktop,  Workstation 9 e Fusion 5.

Tra le novità più interessanti di VMware Workstation 9 c’è il supporto al nuovo arrivato in casa Microsoft, Windows 8 , e la sua nuova UI: il nuovo sistema operativo della casa di Redmond sarà supportato sia come host che come guest.

E’ disponibile per il download un nuovo aggiornamento per il prodotto VMware Workstation 8, che porta la versione a 8.0.4.

Trattandosi di una maintenance release, al suo interno troveremo solamente bug-fix e nessuna nuova funzionalità.

Il consiglio è comunque quello di aggiornare ogni prodotto alla sua ultima versione disponibile, per non incorrere in bug già  documentati ma ancora non riscontrati dalle nostre installazioni.

E’ disponibile la nuova maintenance release di VMware Workstation 7.1.3 che aggiunge il supporto a nuovi sistemi operativi e corregge alcuni bug.

Vediamo insieme quali sono le novità:

When you install VMware Workstation on an operating system that uses a post-2.6.34 Linux kernel, the vmmonmodule fails to compile.

• The vmxnet and vsock guest modules fail to compile on operating systems that use post-2.6.32 Linux kernels.
• When you install VMware Tools on an operating system that uses a post-2.6.34 Linux kernel, the vsock.ko module fails to build.
• Unity mode does not work with an Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit guest operating system.
• An unrecoverable error occurs when you select the Novell NetWare, Sun Solaris, or Other guest operating system type in the New Virtual Machine wizard.
• When you run bulkDeploy.exe to deploy a Pocket ACE package into one or more locations, it crashes with the error SSL Wrapper: invoked uninitilized function AES_set_encrypt_key!.
